“How did it go, don Vittorio?” asked Pedro, the employee. “Did we do good business this time?”
“Muy bien, muchas gracias. ¿Te parece bien a ti, Fred?” le preguntó su esposa.
“That would be fine, thanks. What does that seem like to you, Fred?” asked his wife.
“Bueno, bueno, no vamos a discutir por cosas tan insignificantes. En fin, ¿qué más te dijeron las ‘señoritas’ Martínez?” preguntó Ricardo, con cierto tono de sarcasmo.
“Well, okay, let’s not argue about such petty things. So, what else did they tell you, the Martinez señoritas?” said Ricardo, in a distinctly sarcastic tone.
“¿Qué quiere decir eso de ‘no llegamos ni a primera base’?” preguntó don Ricardo.
“What do you mean by ‘not getting to first base’?” asked Ricardo.
“¿Qué fue ese ruido?” preguntó Virginia un poco alarmada. “Parece como que se cayeron [infin. caer] unos platos.”
“What was that noise?” asked Virginia, a little alarmed. “It seems like some plates fell down.”
